As the school logo shows, we really are ‘Lighting the Pathway to Lifelong Learning’. The symbol of a lamp comes from our links with Florence Nightingale and her family, who provided Wellow School for the children of Wellow back in 1875. To this day, the children of Wellow are proud of their rich history and just as it was when the school was built, the school really is at the heart of the village, a friendly and vibrant school, enjoying excellent links with the local community.
We work in a collaboration with Awbridge and Halterworth Primary Schools under the leadership of Executive Headteacher, Jo Cottrell. We are a unique partnership of three successful schools where attainment and progress for all children is consistently high and above national expectations.
With just under 200 children but on a large and attractive site, we are able to provide outstanding resources and nurture children’s academic, sporting and artistic talents. We have a committed team of staff who have the highest aspirations for all our children and in turn, we have happy and motivated pupils who behave well and enjoy working hard.
